CareOne employees from Teaneck, Valley, Cresskill, Wayne, Oradell Healthcare Center and Woodcrest Health Care Center, as well as executives from CareOne’s corporate headquarters, will battle it out in the CareOne Charity Softball Tournament Championship Game at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7, at 235 Harrington Ave. in Westwood to raise funds for employee and cancer patient Dan Grimes.

The Red Sox were on the road July 27, but Fenway Park’s Concourse was jammed with nearly 2,000 colleagues and friends of Dan Grimes, a 42-year-old father of four, whose emotional expression of gratitude capped an afternoon with award-winning artist performances and an announcement by CareOne CEO and Chairman Daniel E. Straus that the company exceeded the goal to finish at $1.3 million.

Grammy-winning hitmaker Ne-Yo had a prime view of Fenway from one of the ballpark’s suites on Sunday afternoon. It was his first visit to Fenway and he was impressed, but he admitted that he’s not much of a sports fan. “My friends argue about teams . . . and I’m like, when’s lunch?” he told us.
