CareOne’s Fort Lee Headquarters Takes On The ALS #IceBucketChallenge

Posted on: August 20, 2014

CareOne’s corporate office in Fort Lee accepted the ALS Ice Bucket challenge after being nominated by Oradell Health Care Center.  More than 25 employees participated in the challenge, including Executive Vice President Elizabeth Straus, EVP and General Counsel Alberto Lugo, Chief Financial Officer Matt Marcos, and Chief Strategy Officer Timothy Hodges.

CEO Daniel E. Straus had the honor of pouring the buckets of ice water along with CareOne’s senior clinical team.  CareOne nominated ASCEND Rehab and THUZIO to take the challenge next. Under the leadership of Daniel E. Straus and Elizabeth Straus, CareOne raised more than $15,000 to support ALS.  “Philanthropy is a vital component of the CareOne culture,” said Daniel E. Straus.  “We value giving back to the community and supporting charitable causes. We are proud to participate in the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise awareness and funds for ALS.”

In less than two years, the CareOne community has raised more than $3 million in charitable donations for various causes, including The CareOne Cancer Fund In Honor Of Dan Grimes, Inc., The Valerie Fund, The CareOne Disaster Relief Fund, and the One Fund for victims of the Boston Marathon bombing. CareOne was recently selected as a finalist for New Jersey Monthly Magazine’s Great Oak Awards, honoring the state’s businesses for their work on behalf of charitable causes.  “We are built on charity, compassion and giving back,” Elizabeth Straus told New Jersey Monthly.  “My father (CEO Daniel E. Straus) always taught me that you have to be able to take care of your own, as well as people in need.  That’s not only the people in our centers, but also people in our community, in our state and the rest of the world.  We just want to make a difference.”
