CareOne employees from Teaneck, Valley, Cresskill, Wayne, Oradell Healthcare Center and Woodcrest Health Care Center, as well as executives from CareOne’s corporate headquarters, will battle it out in the CareOne Charity Softball Tournament Championship Game at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7, at 235 Harrington Ave. in Westwood to raise funds for employee and cancer patient Dan Grimes.

Earlier this year, Grimes, a longtime CareOne employee, was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. A father of four and husband to his high school sweetheart, he is in his early 40s and has never been a smoker. CareOne, a senior care company, has come to his aid by working with resources statewide in both New Jersey and Massachusetts to raise vital funds to help #SaveDan. The company has established the CareOne Cancer Fund In Honor Of Dan Grimes, Inc. to provide financial assistance to individuals and families impacted by cancer as well as provide funds to research organizations. Grimes and his family will receive the initial grants.

“CareOne isn’t just committed to taking care of thousands of patients throughout New Jersey, but we are committed to taking care of our employees and their families as well,” said Daniel E. Straus, chairman and CEO of Care One, LLC. “Dan has been an integral member of the CareOne family, and this fundraiser will continue our long-term commitment to helping Dan and his family through this difficult time.”

This softball tournament is part of the overall effort to raise $1 million for The CareOne Cancer Fund to support he and his family so he can continue to receive treatment.

CareOne is also planning a fundraiser for him later this month at Boston’s Fenway Park. For more information, visit http://care-one.com/save-dan/.
